When you grow up in it, the vast majority of your friends you meet through "The Truth". Generally, most if not all of your family is part of it and you may even have some family that is a worker; and if you leave, you loose most of this. If you truly had a really really close friend, they would hopefully understand and respect your choice, but most acquaintances/people you knew you would likely never see again. I know that i have only seen Colter a handful of times in the last several years. However, that has to do with more than just him not longer attending 'meetings'.

He has a wonderful and beautiful family, and i'm getting through college. But to some extent, if he was still attending 'meetings' i probably would have seen him 2 handfuls of times instead of 1. Colter briefly mentioned how revered the workers are, and it generally is true. Their word is taken as law, they are the see all, be all, end all etc... Again, this is a major problem within the church that is over time dying. (Although this is dying even slower than skirts and buns). While some level of reverence is absolutely needed and expected for them (they literally devote their entire life and give up everything to spread/preach/teach God's word), it is too much.
